LOL - Yep, you're back alright, with your no-see-um comets I don't know how you do it, but you never cease to impress me. I am looking forward to watching the progress of this one. I hope you will treat us to regular imaging updates.

I imaged this before the trip, and while the domes are off line for weather I'm going back a looking at my old images. and compare them to DSS image and sky charts. Normally I like to have 2 or 3 image to blink them, and then stack them to bring out details but, only one image of the comet came out.

I was able to compare with DSS image inside of Cartes du Ciel to make positive ID.

This comet is project to reach around Mag 6 in June / July 08

I fully believe that Tony will be the first Slooher to ID a brand new comet, just as you Tavi, will have the first asteroid or NEO.

I've always thought that it might possibly prove productive to reserve the first 3 missions each night, and the last 3, & target as close to the horizon as it will let you.....each mission a FOV north and south of the middle one.

No, this is definitely not observing all of the area of sky that NEEDS to be observed for comet hunting....but at least it would be a section of it. Another member might get the 3 missions joining those, to allow twice the area to be covered, which would amount to 30 minutes after sunset & 30 minutes prior to sunrise (close to it anyway).

With 2 more scopes coming on-line soon, this would still allow other members plenty of options. I believe this would be as close to "text-book" comet hunting as Slooh can manage....& I believe that it could very well be productive sometime in the future.

But what do I know....I just do binaries & planetaries.

thanks David, I hope I can prove you right. This year once more domes come online I hope to ramp up my searches. I would really love to use Slooh as the discovery tool. Slooh is the greatest system I have ever used.

I hope I can give back to Slooh as much as it has given to me someday.

Brighter than expected, The comet has gone from Mag 11.8 to Mag 9.8 in 3 days.

There is a glare on the image from bright star just off the FOV






here is the WF with the bright star you can just make out a fuzz patch near the center of the image where the comet is.

We should keep our eyes open for P/2003 T12 - its orbit is not well known but original predictions had it reappearing about now. I set up a mission a few days ago but nothing seen. It's rather difficult to get missions in the limited time period of possible visibity. I dont think anyone else has seen it yet. Data is here:
