A question for Slooh Technical Staff.
I saw on a site named "Collaborative Asteroid Lightcurve Link" that various projects are ongoing. One of these projects is called Low Phase Angle Project.
http://www.minorplanetobserver.com/astlc/LCProjects.htm
Quoting it:
"...Observations that get accurate V magnitudes at small phase angles as well as several steps on either side can make important contributions to the study of the surface makeup of asteroids...One of the more active observers in this field is Richard Miles of the U.K. If you'd like to take part in this work, he can offer lots of sage advice..."
Following a contact with Richard Miles (Director, Asteroids and Remote Planets Section British Astronomical Association), where I explained that I used the Slooh Remote Telescope facility to snap some photos of asteroid Nuwa a few times in September and October, he told me that (I quote his words):
"You can only do photometry to the required accuracy (+/-0.01 mag) using FITS files. You would have to get these from Slooh. I would be very interested in the 'G' or Green images if there are 3 FITS files making up the RGB colour image. However for accurate work they should have had a dark image subtracted from each frame and then it should have been flatfielded."
So my question/hope is:
It would be great if the Slooh Technical Staff could recover the FITS files of asteroid Nuwa and send them to Richard Miles for further investigation!
I understand that this is not normally possible but in this case we may have a real opportunity to help professional researchers.
Kind Regards and once again thanks for you work!

| We should have the files referred to (calibrated Green filter images) of his Nuwa Missions. He would need to provide us with the date and time the Missions took place. |

Thanks, for your fast answer.
Let me know if have to do something to take the files or you can send the files directly to Richard Miles.
Here are the details that you asked:
The Nuwa images that you can also see under http://www.myslooh.com/alessandro_odasso are the following ones:

Another asteroid that I snapped twice that might be interesting is Sundmania (I did not mention Sundmania to R. Miles but maybe while you are in the process of letting him take the FITS file, you can easily provide also the following ones):

Are my observation details enough to recover the Green calibrated FITS files (Nuwa and possibly also Sundmania missions) ?
And, please, let me know if I can do something to download them or if you prefer to send these files to BAA in another way.
Thanks,
Alessandro |
